How to achieve this look? (784885)

Hello,

I’m making simple hyper casual game and trying to have similar art style as this. I create a simple cube in blender and added UV map to it and imported it in Unity. Im not using any directional lights. Only ambient lights. It looks like crap though. Please advise.

@cryogee
Could you go into detail, what “look” you are trying to achieve?
Is it the toon texture styled look, of the models or landscape or both?

Well the example you posted does have a directional light of some kind so you probably want to add that.

How can you tell? Your scene is nearly empty.

Look of the buildings. E.g. Just this model 5901251--629774--Screenshot 2020-05-26 at 8.56.07 PM.png

I’d try adding a directional light and adjust the intensity of that and also the ambient light until you find the right balance. To me, it doesn’t look like there is anything special going on in that example. If you can’t get that to work then there are toon shaders out there too.

Whatever you decide to do, though, you’ll need some actual content to test with. Try downloading some free models from the Asset Store or something.

Oh boy. Sorry for the large reply.:face_with_spiral_eyes:

That seems to be a combination of good artistic art style for the texture, a lamp/light with a high intensity value as kdgalla suggested as well, which is enhanced by a specific shader used. It could be a toon shader as kdgalla suggested, as that is my guess too.

But, for some strange reason, I think it’s possible, they used one of unity’s cheap shaders, a light/lamp with a high intensity value, and simple toon art skills, to accomplish that look.
