Hey all,
So i just started with unity 2 days back, i am working on a project but i dont know how do i put infinte terrain in my terrain.
I am new so if u guys have something can u guys please tell me how to even use it! Thanks though and another question how do i make a volumetric terrain.
Best piece of advice for a 2 day old unity developer is learn to love the google search “unity ” and “unity youtube ”
If you google “unity infinite terrain” and it’ll give you a lot of replies exceedingly fast…
You would be better searching for unity3d as searching for “unity infinite terrain” does NOT give you a lot of replies exceedingly fast (unless you consider 10 a lot)
I’d enter “site:unity3d.com “infinite terrain”” as a search into Google.
The original search suggested does indeed give plenty of results. You added the quotes to it, when they were just intended to separate the search from the rest of the sentence.
albeit suggesting an internet search is always a good advice i’m not sure if its the best one in this case. if you have no experience with unity (and possibly with coding at all) its better to do lots of tutorials first before you start to work on your project or on complicated topics like this one.
guys i did search on ggogle and i found marching cubes but a guy is offering it for 3K so i need something free.
and i found some stuff here → CLICK HERE
but i dont know how to install that. please i need to know…
btw i know c++ so understanding unity scripting will be simple
You say…
And yet…
Either open the SLN in Visual Studio and copy out the scripts you need… or open the extracted folder in Unity (it’s a project) and export what you need as an asset package.
You sounds like you just accepted a random job from some strange guy and told him you’d be able to build a voxel minecraft clone in a week without having any idea how to do it. I think if that’s the case, you should write back now and say you jumped the gun and can’t do it, and spend some time learning basic Unity concepts and learning basic C#, then read about how voxels work, then start taking on projects when you have a better idea of how to estimate time requirements.
thanks guys, I’ll start learning javascript at code academy.
…
You DO understand that that JavaScript refers to the more commonly (and appropriately) called JavaScript used for web development?
Watch Unite 2013 - GIS Terrain Unity it a good starting point : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKWvAuTGVrQ
Thanks and yes I know javascript is used in web development .
It’s not used in Unity, however.
