Unity cannot import animation from MODO 701 lxo file. unity says there is no animation. when i export as fbx unity can import animations. is it the same for you too?
Modo 701 is so new, newer than a Unity iteration, you are bound to get these issues. Luxology have probably changed something within the lxo format.
Best raise it as a bug so that it is in Unity’s system and then start exporting as .fbx if you really want to use 701 or go back to 601 until it’s fixed.

I have the same result in 701… is there something lacking in the fbx export that you would rather use the lxo?
for fbx i have to export each time. with lxo i just save it. if i keep both lxo and fbx i can confuse files and edit wrong one and loose my edits.
i have not tried animation with modo 601. maybe it is the same.
You could create a keyboard shortcut in modo to export the fbx so that it feels as easy as saving.
As for mixing up the files, by default unity will not recognize modo as the app to open fbx files, nor will the OS. The only time you might click the wrong one would be if you went through File->open in Modo. If your opening files through the Unity project browser or from finder you will be safe.
I would also place the lxo’s in a separate folder than the fbx.
I wrote a modo plugin for 701 that does all this, feel free to shoot me a message and I’d be happy to walk you through it.
I published an update in my plugin thread which doesn’t require the separate fbx files, which will allow you to use the lxo like before ![]()
@jason price at your download page doesn’t work. it always demand $30 on paypal site. it work when selecting more button.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention, it should now be working correctly.
@jason with moto 701 sp2 i have the same problem. do you plan to update your plugin? also your website doesn’t work.
yeah interested in plugin but not working =(
it works now. on each unity or modo install (i am not sure which one) you have to install plugin again.
it works for windows but it does not work for mac. modo 701 sp2, unity 4.2.1, modo to unity 1.3.4.
Jason are you there?
i think mac installer has problem. i deleted ModoToUnity.py in Unity and installed again. it works now.
I’m using modo 601 and unity 5.5.0f3 and I’m getting the “there is no animation…” error. Exporting an fbx file format is fine though. BTW I wish there were a way to optimize the keyframes so that the fbx format didn’t bake a key into every single frame.
