Objects in tile map don't fit grid

Hi there, I’m still at the beginning of things and I have encountered a frustrating problem.

When I create a new tile map palette with a sliced tile map, the tiles are super small. They are maybe just a tenth of the size of my grid. Where can I adjust them or the grid and how do I know which size?

2 options:

a) decrease pixels per unit on your sprites
or
b) increase x and y scale on your tilemap object

these values balance eachother so the correct size depends on what you choose and also the cell size of your grid
