Platform Support Update: Magic Leap (x86_64) Build Target Limited Starting Unity 6.3

Starting in Unity 6.3, the Magic Leap (x86_64) build target will be limited to existing projects only. You’ll still be able to open and build current projects targeting Magic Leap (x86_64), but new projects can not be created in Unity 6.3 or later versions. You can continue to open and build new projects in Unity 6.2 and earlier.

If you have questions about how this affects your existing or upcoming projects, feel free to post below.

I am using this x86_64 buld target for Google Play Games for PC. So if no new projects can target x86_64 then how to build for Google Play Games for PC.

Can you please elaborate why this is, and tell us something about the future? Recently HoloLens 2 support was axed, for very obvious reasons, because Microsoft are discontinuing it. Will Unity 6.3 support Magic Leap in the future? Is this a beta thing? Or have they stopped paying you for future support?

I did understand this wrong first as well. You can still build for Magic Leap 2.

Unity removes the old Magic Leap XR package and limits the legacy “Magic Leap (x86_64)” build target to existing projects. New work must target Android + OpenXR and use Magic Leap’s OpenXR Unity SDK.

We’re using the x86_64 build target for Google Play Games for PC. Do you have plans to support this?

WTH. You mean this is just removal of the old Magic Leap Unity Plugin? The one that got you a Depreciation warning since forever and that I never used anyway? I always used OpenXR :person_facepalming:

What about Google Play Games for PC? I’m also using the x86_64 option to build for Google Play Games for PC.
