Support for Intel-based Macs will be deprecated in Unity 6.6 and 6.7, and unavailable from Unity 6.8. Support for Apple silicon is not affected by this change.
Due to Apple’s ongoing reduction of Intel-based Mac support, Unity decided to end support for Intel-based Macs after Unity 6.7 LTS. Unity 6.7 LTS will continue to support Intel Macs for 2 years after release, and 3 years for Enterprise and Industry licenses.
The support will end across three components of the Engine:
- The Unity Editor for Intel macOS (x86_64): the development environment running natively on Intel Mac hardware.
- The macOS Standalone Player for Intel (x86_64): the build target used to produce macOS applications that run on Intel Mac hardware, including Universal options.
- iOS and tvOS x86_64 and Universal Simulators: The build target options when exporting to these platforms for Simulator purposes.
The Apple silicon (arm64) versions of the Unity Editor, the macOS Standalone Player, and iOS & tvOS simulator for Apple Silicon are unaffected by this change and will continue to be supported, maintained, and improved.
Intel components will be deprecated beginning in Unity 6.6, and Unity 6.7 LTS will be the last release to include them. Unity remains committed to the Apple ecosystem. With Unity 6.5, the Unity Editor for macOS is now fully notarized by Apple, reflecting a deepening investment in delivering a first-class experience for developers on Apple platforms.
