Unsure if this is the proper channel for this feedback, please move/remove as needed.
Often I can’t complete checkout due to “upstream request timeout” or “stream timeout” errors which appear when trying to submit an order to pay.unity.com . I am currently unable to complete checkout with a cart with just 9 items.
I assume the timeouts are set far too low for the asset store price validation or order verification to run server-side during peak hours; but if customers retry and fail many checkouts, removing one item at a time to split the cart, this probably prolongs busy hours & exasperates any server overload.
Hi @Cam_Fox, sorry for the issue. The relevant team was notified about your message.
@Cam_Fox can you please send me more information about your issue in DM (screenshot/video would be the best)?
Hello and thanks for your response @leo-assetstore !
- The issue affects any of my carts if I have a few normal assets (4-5) and a few flash deals (4-5) simultaneously carted.
- Each additional flash deal significantly increases the wait time for the order confirmation screen after clicking Pay Now from the checkout summary page.
- With enough assets carted, the delay becomes so long that the server times out with a black unformatted error page and the text “upstream request timeout” or “stream timeout”, and the transaction fails.
- Sometimes I can get an order through even if I see the error screen, if I charge to a saved card.
I suspect there’s a badly optimized price validation routine that runs server-side just before finalizing the order. The flash deals slow the checkout process disproportionately compared to normal assets. A cart with as few as 6 of the flash deals (by themselves) will timeout during peak hours.
Occasionally, some of the flash deals are for assets which have an upgrade discount as well, which implies the server would need to do some prioritization to ensure the correct price. Perhaps this prioritization complexity could be related to the slow processing.
Thanks!
Thanks for the details, the info is transferred to the relevant team.
