Here’s to good days s#*tposting ahead! In all seriousness, here’s to the fresh start. Looking forward to Unity 6!
Must say, it’s better than expected. Still a bit unfamiliar but it should grow on me.
Haven’t seen this before with dark reader enabled.
What is this noisy background? https://cdck-file-uploads-europe1.s3.dualstack.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/unity/original/4X/0/7/d/07d8efa1f31532aeef11bda3c184cf424bf394d3.png
It would seem so.
Yeah, we’re back! ![]()
Looks like some updates have been made from the beta feedback. Nice.
But communities are really about people. Let’s make this place as rockin’ as it can be for each other. ![]()
Heck yeah! Here’s hoping for a good year! Things have been pretty trying so far for everyone, but hey, you can’t have Unity without chaos! We all want this engine to be kick ass, we all want to have better days ahead.
P.S. apologies for being a bit of a hot head on the old boards, imma try to do better. I go kinda hard from time to time, and I know that this is a space for developers of all types and especially these days it’s all to easy to get off topic when the focus needs to be about gamedev and finding a greater Unity. Ok, not gonna bogart this thread. Looking forward to blathering about Unity 6.0 in the near future!
back, with native emojis? ![]()
Is it me or the lack of pagination is really disturbing? Maybe I need to get used to this new forum, but I find it pretty hard to navigate. Especially since I need to load a ton of official topics in each area before getting to the user-made topics. Also feel like margin is too important for posts, not many can be displayed at once. Anyway, hi again everyone, hope we didn’t lost too many people.
(Oh, and funny how we can see others replying in realtime even though they haven’t posted yet)
I find it harder to follow what exactly is being replied to, as while theres a name say top right of a post, it doesnt actually tell you which post of theirs they replied to, id rather have a tree system more like reddit than this
For sure. I don’t hate the new forum but it has problems.
Reply chains being so hard to parse is for sure the worst part right now, shortly followed by a lack of pagination, but the second is apparently a limitation of discourse, which sucks since it can’t really be worked around.
Hmm. New annoyance, it seems that hitting new post when inside a category doesn’t just create a post there, you have to find your way back through a totally redundant menu now. It’s also impossible to filter by tags, since it for some reason just filters site-wide, as opposed to in the category you’re in. Combined it really makes it hard to navigate this place without constantly having irrelevant information dumped on you.
This is a Test reply
EDIT : Yeah it sucks, why can’t it auto-quote your text in the reply? ![]()
I find it harder to follow what exactly is being replied to
It’s very dependent on how you started it. If you hit “Reply” to a post then you’re actually replying to it, but if you hit “Reply” at the very bottom it’s replying to the entire thread as a whole and not one specific post.
you can also do both, like select text and quote, people will get used to how it works over time.
No, I get that the bottom reply is generic and the comment reply is to that, so like yours has my name on, but if i had 10 posts here, how does anyone know which one? it also doesnt seem to do easy quotes if i hit quote, it then needs me to copy/paste the bit im quoting … so arguably could change it
Aha - that was less intuative…
thanks
it seems like you can isolate replies either by clicking the “x reply” or clicking the persons name.
It’s functional I guess but definitely less convenient.
depends, if a post is especially long it might be sometimes better than a massive quote.
That said I like how nested quotes work, click the second arrow…
Alright nested quotes are actually pretty neat, though replies still definitely should automatically quote at least part of the post.
Alternatively, maybe a hover preview would be nice.
