Anyone received this out of nowhere?

I’m using my account since I was at university, like 7 years ago, and bought already some assets etc on sales, and now I receive this :frowning:

did you contact support?

Yes, i’m still waiting.
The problem is they don’t even tell what you did “wrong”, just lock your account and then you have to contact them if you think it was a mistake

my account was killed for a month after i bought an expensive asset and it was so much of a joke, it just wasnt funny… So, I applied for a refund… the seller replied saying i had only bought it to get my money back (wtf?) so I applied for a refund and it was denied beause the seller said no… this took a month so then, I started a paypal dispute, it went through a couple of weeks of paypal dispute andi got my money and within 24 hours my account was locked for defrauding unity… even though of course a part of unity that deals with paypal had agreed it was fair, clearly another part did not… anyway, a month of no account and no access to all the assets i had bought later, i was given my account back with a snarky response of i should have contacted them first… to which I of course replied “I did” … and have moved on.

So, i seem to recall i got an email. But, I also know that unity, and depending on which bit of unity emails dont always seem to make it, such as, their helpdesk ticket system, if I raise 1 type of ticket i get emails if i raise a different kind i dont and its the one ive needed most I dont… their answer is it must be in spam (no its not, its not making it to the mail server, as its a privately run mailserver we can check) and funny how it works for other ticket types, but i dont get any options in the system about mails or not… but somehow its still my fault… (sigh)

This is standard procedure for companies. Something something fraud prevention.

oh, i kinda understand, but when the paypal part of unity had agreed it wasnt like due to not hearing from unity paypal gave me it anyway, no no, unity had said yes, and then i lost access for a month and on restore with a snippy you should have contacted us… of course I had, weeks before…

But I was trying to affirm it can happen, but i recall I did get an email.

Well I never refunded anything, in fact, last time i bought something on asset store was like 3 months ago and i’ve been using unity daily since…2019? or 2018, to work and study

edit:
The thing is, I didn’t buy anything from asset store since like may? or april, don’t remember exactly, and not even tried to refund anything and in fact, wasn’t even using any of my bought assets due to not have a lot of time to work on my personal projects due to work.

Two friends of mine got their account suspended too this morning, one is a Q.A, so only use unity to test the games and the other one is a Product Manager, but was UI/UX some years ago and used to use unity too. We don’t work in the same studios for quite long time, so I don’t think we have something related and it seems something is odd with unity fraud detection system.

it does seem odd that 2 of your friends also have lost access. Clearly they feel something is going on

Do you have any shared projects? Even old ones? Is there any chance you all had say student licenses and are no longer students? Or a free personal and something you made made over 100k… or any chance an asset you paid per seat was shared between you and so broke that 1 seat license? Or got hold of assets from sharing portals that we’re supposed to be paid for? Or worse an asset you bought was uploaded and shared on one? Or multiple people using the same account?

as far as i know unity don’t normally block account’s because they get bored they have a reason it seems odd they havent dropped you a message even if it wasn’t overly explanatory.

yes we worked together at the same studio last year as freelancers, but we are not in this studio anymore, actually i was just removed from the studio organization like 2 months ago.

Update:
You were flagged in our system for non compliance use of licensing within the last 90 days. There is nothing I can further assist you with.
Respectfully,
Josh

For god sake, what a problem.
They even contacted my old boss and he confirmed i’m not working in any project anymore with him, and in fact, I have never been an employee as I worked as a freelancer and have no company bound with him.
Probably will look for a lawyer and see what I can do now.

Is there any chance your account was linked to theirs and had some assets added to it during that time that arguably you are no longer entitled to?

Cold corporate reply. No details, just a guilty verdict and good bye.

Using Unity is terrifying.
