I want to make a game which takes place in a big store. Big stores like Lidl etc. will have tons of lightbulbs, which I tried to replicate using around 50 point lights in baked mode. I had to change the pixel light count from 4 to 50 to make all lights take effect. After adding the lights my fps dropped from ~300 to 15. If I am not mistaken baked lights should be pre-calculated, so they should have little effect on performence? A temporary workaround I found was adding 6 directional lights pointing in each direction and removing point lights, but as you can imagine it looks terrible. What should I do in order to reduce lag caused by point lights? Alternatively, can I use any of the other light types to acheve the desired effect?
Make sure to generate lighting from the lighting window after you’ve placed the lights. Before you do that, your lights are going to render as realtime, hence the FPS drop.
Alternatively, switch to the deferred rendering path.

That solved the problem! I didn’t know I had to generate the lighting… Thanks a lot for your help!
